The First "Strictly Stock" NASCAR race 1949 Charlotte Speedway remembered by Bill Blair Jr who was just a kid at the time but remembers a lot about that day and being at the track with his Dad who led most of the race, 145 laps. In this video Bill tells us what happened to his Dad's #44 Lincoln that cost him to fall out of the race and how the winner Jim Roper driving the other Lincoln from the same car owner. There was controversy in this first NASCAR race of the 1949 season and first ever Strictly Stock race due to helper springs being used and a court battle between the car owner and Big Bill France Sr.
